Clamd failures on cPanel VPS

ClamAV is a filtering addon available in cPanel. Its filtering is limited to incoming emails only. Latest versions of ClamAV supported by cPanel are high memory intensive and the clamd install process generally needs more than 256MB memory to install properly. ClamAV doesn't work if there is limited RAM available on the VPS.

The ClamAV version that used to be installed for VPS clients, that was less resource intensive, is no longer supported. ClamAV no longer allows that version as there was a major security hole in previous versions. If email filtering is not a definite need or instead of webmail, email clients are used for emails , then ClamAV should be disabled/removed to free up RAM.
