Can I use SFTP with virtual FTP accounts that I create in cPanel?

No, SFTP requires SSH access and SSH access is available for cPanel accounts only which is a shell account itself. A virtual FTP account does not have shell access, so SFTP does not work for it.

In short, you can use SFTP using your main FTP account only and we do recommend that you use SFTP for security reasons.
